Current research and teaching
Chris teaches primarily in the fields of organisational and labour sociology, cultural sociology, human resource management and development studies. He has conducted research on gender in the Swedish and Irish information technology sectors, urbanization in southern Africa, film production, career development, job quality and cultural policy.
From April 2015-March 2018 he coordinates the Horizon 2020 funded (€2.5m) project QuInnE (Quality of Jobs and Innovation Generated Employment Outcomes) on innovation, job quality and employment together with researchers from nine universities/research institutes in seven EU countries.

Chris Mathieu is Associate Professor of Organisational and Labour Sociology at the Department of Sociology.
Research Network on the Sociology of the Arts
Christopher Mathieu is coordinator of the European Sociological Association Research Network on the Sociology of the Arts. The network promotes collaboration and scholarly exchange.
