Pågående forskning
Mina huvudsakliga intresseområden är migration, genus, social teori, globalisering och kulturanalys. Mitt första forskningsprojekt undersökte den libanesiska diasporan i New York, Montreal och Paris där jag studerade diasporiska former av identifiering, gemensam anknytning och kulturella uttryck. Jag studerade också invandrares barn (andra generationen) från ett jämförande perspektiv och undersökte deras uppfattningar om personligt välbefinnande och tillhörighet. Just nu fokuseras mitt arbete på syriska flyktingars erfarenheter av migration och integration samt mediepresentationer av flyktingkrisen 2015.
Från ett jämförande perspektiv fokuseras min forskning på möten mellan enskilda invandrare (och deras samhällen) och institutioner i mottagarländer (t ex skolor, arbetsmarknad, media och offentlig politik).

- Former för solidaritet och gemensam tillhörighet bland syriska flyktingar
- Erfarenheter av socioekonomisk rörlighet bland invandrares barn
- Samspelet mellan globalisering och statlig politik i utformningen av kvinnors offentliga roller
